EDGA is recruiting a volunteer Director of Competitions to help lead the next stage of competitive disc golf in England.
This is one of the most visible roles in the organisation. It helps shape the EDGA Tour, supports Tournament Directors, guides competition standards, and helps the Board make clear and fair decisions about events.
This is not a request for one person to run every tournament. The role is about leadership, coordination and building the right support around competitions.
What the role is about
The Director of Competitions helps make sure EDGA competitions are fair, clear, well planned and enjoyable for players, Tournament Directors, clubs and event hosts.
- Helping shape the EDGA Tour and national competition structure
- Supporting Tournament Directors before, during and after Tour events
- Leading the annual calendar planning process
- Keeping Tour standards clear, practical and up to date
- Helping improve registration and scoring systems, including tools such as Tjing and PDGA Live where relevant
- Using player, membership and Tour data to understand what is working and what needs attention
- Consulting players, TDs and clubs before major changes
- Working with the EDGA Board so competition decisions fit the wider direction of the association
Who we are looking for
You might be a good fit if you care about the future of competitive disc golf in England, understand what makes a good tournament experience, and can listen to TDs, players and clubs when views differ.
- You can make practical decisions and explain them clearly
- You like improving systems, guidance and processes
- You can work as part of a volunteer Board
- You are fair minded, organised and willing to learn
You do not need to have all the answers already. You do not need to be the most experienced Tournament Director in the country.
Support around the role
This should be a supported role, not a solo mission.
EDGA wants the Director of Competitions to work with Tournament Directors, event teams, Board colleagues and volunteers who can help with Tour admin, data, communications, TD resources and systems.
One of the early priorities will be agreeing which tasks should sit with supporting volunteers, so the Director can focus on leadership and coordination.
Time commitment
This is a volunteer role and the workload will vary through the year.
It is likely to be busier during calendar planning, Tour launch, major registration periods and end-of-season review. EDGA wants to keep the role realistic and sustainable.
Why it matters
A strong competitions structure helps players plan their season, helps TDs run better events, supports clubs and courses, and gives EDGA better information about how the sport is growing.
