Members vote on transition to EDGA opens 25 May

A member vote will open on 25 May 2026 to complete the transition to the English Disc Golf Association (EDGA).

At the 2024 AGM, members voted in favour of moving from the British Disc Golf Association (BDGA) to English Disc Golf Association (EDGA). This upcoming vote is the final step required to complete that transition.

The vote will open at 00:00 on 25 May 2026 and close at 23:59 on 1 June 2026. All eligible members will receive a voting link by email. To be eligible, you must hold a Full or Premium Full EDGA membership at 23:59 on 22 May 2026. Members who join or upgrade after this time will not be included in the vote.

What you will be asked to vote on

This is a single, formal resolution, to complete the direction originally approved by members in 2024.

Members are asked to approve:

  • the winding up of the British Disc Golf Association
  • the transfer of all assets and responsibilities for disc golf in England to the English Disc Golf Association (EDGA)
  • the formal legal structure required for EDGA to operate as a governing body

Why this is happening

The current governing body, the BDGA, has not been responsible for disc golf across the whole of Great Britain, since the Scottish Disc Golf Association (SDGA) was established in 2020 as the national governing body for disc golf in Scotland.

The EDGA is being established as a Company Limited by Guarantee, the standard structure used by national governing bodies in sport, which will remove some of the existing limitations of the current arrangements, including barriers to funding and recognition.

This new structure provides:

  • a formal legal structure
  • protection for board members of their personal assets
  • the ability to hold funds, contracts and responsibilities in its own name
  • a clear pathway to Sport England recognition
