2026 Ashton Court Classic: Macpherson-Stewart wins by seven after a round-two 50

Johnstone Macpherson-Stewart made the trip down from Scotland to take the MPO title at the 2026 Ashton Court Classic at 14 under, seven strokes clear of the field. Ninety players competed at Bristol over 25 and 26 April for the C-tier weekend, presented by INNOVA Europe and run by Tom Sutton.

The result turned on a single round. Ben March led after Saturday morning at 54 (-5), with James Hanley a stroke back and Macpherson-Stewart five behind on 58. Saturday afternoon, Macpherson-Stewart shot 50 (-9), one of the best single rounds of the EDGA Tour season so far. That flipped a four-stroke deficit into a four-stroke lead in one round. He closed Sunday with 55 (-4) for a 163 total and never gave the lead back.

Hanley took second on 170 (-7) and March third on 171 (-6). Callum Taylor’s 53 in round two (-6) was the second-lowest round of the weekend.

Conditions helped at the top. In perhaps a first for an Ashton Court tournament, the weather couldn’t have been much better. No rain and light winds at 5 to 7 mph. The players had some hot conditions and sweaty hands to contend with on Saturday, as well as a picnic or two in the mixed-use park. The Blue layout at Ashton Court usually demands accuracy in the wind. With the wind off, the field went low.

Elva-Kate Preston shot some impressive rounds to win FPO at 182 (+5), well clear of View Georgiou.

Jonathan Tweed claimed MP40 at -3, edging Iain McNidder by three strokes. Craig Pettitt took MP50 in a one-player division.

The amateur fields produced the fastest scoring outside the lead card. Teenager Harry Beeks shot 169 (-8) to win MA2 on his first visit to Ashton Court, the lowest amateur total of the weekend and a stroke better than the MA1 winner. Dominic Clarke-Sieling made the most of getting off the waiting list the morning of the tournament, winning MA1 at 170 (-7). Janis Laduzans won MA3 at 170 (-7), and Nial Al-Zanki Grimes MA40 at level par. James Chiczewski won MA4 playing his first tournament as a Team Mint Kastaplast member, and Jon Cicuttin took MA50.

Juju Liao won FA1, Ala Bagnucka FA2, and Courtney Bryan FA3. Toby Jenkins won the junior MJ12 division.

INNOVA Europe sponsored the event, which meant some awesome custom-stamped player pack discs, including some tournament exclusive mould/plastic combos. £6.80 per player went to Bristol Disc Golf Club for tee pad and basket upgrades at Ashton Court.
