Disc golf in schools across England

Disc golf works well in schools because it is low cost, easy to supervise and suitable for mixed abilities. It can run as part of PE, enrichment activities or after-school clubs.

Why schools use disc golf

  • Encourages walking and outdoor activity.
  • Develops coordination, focus and decision making.
  • Allows inclusive sessions where pupils progress at their own pace.
  • Can use existing green space with portable or semi-permanent baskets.

Getting started

A simple school setup might use a small number of baskets and a shared set of discs. Staff can take ideas from the Beginner Guide and How to Throw pages to build basic lesson plans.

Support for schools

Clubs and volunteers often help schools run taster sessions or set up simple layouts. The Start a Club and Club Support Resources pages give more detail on formats, templates and example policies.

Safeguarding remains important for any activity involving children. Please read our Safeguarding page for guidance that applies to schools, clubs and community groups.
