Start a disc golf club in England

Disc golf in England grows when new clubs form and existing groups become more stable. This page outlines the first steps and shows how the English Disc Golf Association (EDGA) can help.

First steps for starting a club

  • Gather a small core of people who are prepared to take basic roles.
  • Agree where you intend to meet and which course or courses you use.
  • Decide how you will communicate with players and new members.

EDGA is working on simple templates to support this, including draft constitutions, example codes of conduct and sample role descriptions. These will be grouped in the Club Templates and Club Support Resources sections.

When a new club forms, EDGA asks organisers to share key details about their activity and the courses they use. This helps build the national directory and makes it easier for councils and landowners to recognise the club.

Linking to courses and the wider network

When a club is tied to a course, it helps local authorities and landowners see who is responsible for activity on the site. In time, the Club Directory will show these links, alongside information from the Research and Data work.

Next steps

EDGA is shaping a light touch affiliation process that will sit alongside this guidance and give clubs a way to show they meet basic standards. Details will appear on the Club Affiliation page as they are confirmed.

For informal questions or examples from existing clubs, you can also follow and contact EDGA via the Facebook page.
