The Manchester Masters delivered a competitive three-round battle at Lilford Park, with 32 players competing across 12 divisions.
Conditions were excellent across the weekend, the Lilford course was in great shape, and several divisions went right down to the final round.
MPO – Mixed Pro Open
Iain McDougall took the MPO title in dominant fashion, finishing 27 under par with a three-round total of 144.
The Tournament Director and course designer finished 19 strokes clear of Jonathan Tweed, who secured second place at 8 under par (163). Harry Messenger finished third at 4 under (167).
FPO – Women’s Pro Open
The Women’s Pro Open produced one of the closest finishes of the tournament.
Sue Underwood claimed the title with a total of 184 (+13), edging Harpa María Reynisdóttir by a single stroke. Reynisdóttir finished on 185 (+14) after three consistent rounds.
Pro 40+ and 60+ divisions
Paul Stoddart won MP40 with a 172 (+1), holding off Ben Curphey, who finished three strokes back on 175.
In FP40, Svandís Halldórsdóttir posted a strong 165 (-6) to take the division.
The MP60 title went to Charlie Mead, who recorded three consecutive rounds of 57 for an even-par total of 171.
Amateur divisions
The MA1 division saw Reid Sharkey take the win at 168 (-3), narrowly ahead of Rob James on 169 and Ross Brown on 173.
Nial Al-Zanki Grimes won MA40 with 167 (-4), finishing six strokes ahead of Richard Hooper.
In MA50, Tom Hayek finished first with 184 (+13), followed by Eric Turton on 189 and Andy Cotgreave on 192.
Kevin Addison captured MA2 with a total of 174 (+3), while Sam Mansfield finished second on 186.
MA3 produced another tight contest. Mathew One T Hodson won with 183 (+12), just one stroke ahead of Andrew Upmalis on 184. Richard Grimshaw finished third on 188.
Stuart Ankers led the MA4 field with an impressive 160 (-11). Stuart Lowe took second on 166, followed by Kevin Moth on 176.
Junior division
The tournament also featured an MJ12 junior division, with the winner completing the three rounds in 221 (+50).
Tournament highlights
With 32 players across 12 divisions, the Manchester Masters featured everything from a commanding MPO victory to several finishes decided by a single stroke.
Iain McDougall’s 27-under performance and 1003 tournament average rating provided the headline result, while FPO, MA1 and MA3 were among the divisions producing close battles throughout the weekend.
Another highlight came when Stuart Lowe hit his first-ever ace on the notoriously awkward hole 12 at Lilford.
The closest-to-the-pin competitions, sponsored by Bounceback Disc Golf, were won by Harry Messenger, Vanessa Lancaster and Reid Sharkey.
The longest putt competitions, sponsored by Manchester Disc Golf, were won by Harpa María Reynisdóttir, Jamie Matthews and Stuart Ankers.
Kevin Addison rounded out the weekend by winning the lunchtime putting competition.
